Compare the pair – how to use creative links and segues

Don’t we just love a drama! Well, I do anyway. I love the whole Mushroom Woman story and so do the rest of Australia if the ABC podcast is anything to go by.
Where I don’t like drama is when I get up to speak and one thing I have learnt recently is the drama of the simple clicker.
Here is the issue:
If you have a Mac Air, your USB won’t connect. No clicker.
Oh, you can use an extension attachment. Well, guess what, this limits the distance you can move from the computer.
So, there I am at the glamorous venue and running a one-day program with 100 people and, yes, they gave me a clicker (for which I had paid), but it was not the one with the ability to carry the message over distance. When I say ‘distance’, I mean 12 inches! Someone smarter than me had booked the more capable clicker for another room. Who knew there was such a thing to book?
Do you have a clicker with extended reach? If you have the normal clicker, no you don’t.
So, here is my discovery, the Logitech spotlight (and yes, it comes in gold) will connect via Bluetooth and no USB is necessary.
So what do Erin Patterson and a clicker have to do with life? It’s all part of the drama of the day. Some entertain me. Some I can do without.
Which brings to the notion of ‘Creative Links’ or Segues. The difference is that a creative link leads to the outcome of your work, whereas the segue links to your work.
At the moment the world is full of opportunities. Trump Tariffs, State of Origin, Collingwood AFL and of course, Mushroom Woman. So just for a bit of fun, here are a few that might help you brighten up your meeting:
Creative links: connecting ideas
- See above for the Mushroom Woman creative link.
- Who here backs Collingwood? Most of Melbourne it appears do and Collingwood are pulling it out for crowds of close to 100,000 every game. They are artwork to watch and have a teamwork to die for. And that’s what we want to see here. We want to pull in the clients and be a ‘team that thrives’.
Segues: changing the topic smoothly
- Just like Trump Tariffs, the impact of these changes are uncertain.
- In the State of Origin, NSW thrashed Queensland and in the finance team, they have dragged out their strength to get on top of the SAP system.
- If you think Collingwood aren’t favourites for the Premiership, then you will be blind to the success of our sales team.
- If you have heard how Mushroom Woman is alleged to have colour coded plates, you will appreciate that we have used colour coding for ease of identification in our graph.
Too far??
Let me hear your thoughts.
